Hiring a wedding magician
Hiring a wedding magician is an excellent way to make your special day even more magical. I first performed at a wedding when I was 15 years old and as a result, have a pretty extensive list of “do’s” and “don’t’s” for giving your guests the very best day to date (perhaps something for another blog…).
Before we go any further if you have fallen down an internet rabbit hole and stumbled across this blog, why not watch what I do by clicking here or reading some reviews by clicking here?
Right, Back to the topic at hand…Hiring a wedding magician…
Hiring a wedding magician solves several problems you can encounter on your big day, as well as having several advantages over other forms of entertainment…Let’s examine the latter first…
PLAY SHOWREEL
Magic is universal
The experience of awe and amazement is inherently appealing to our human psyche! Magic is loved by 99.9% of people (one day I’ll do a survey). Unlike other forms of entertainment, magic is not subject to “taste”. It does not care what age you are or where you’re from!
Comparatively, people tend to have preferences on the type of music they like, what they find funny, and what they find fun. Fortunately, magic is one of those rare experiences that tends to appeal to all (well, nearly all), and it is what makes hiring a wedding magician such a fail-safe option.
Magic is malleable
Close up magic does not require a stage, special lighting, AV or anyone seated or standing in a particular way! Given that weddings are very fluid (with guests moving between different locations), minimal set-up means hiring a wedding magician is hugely advantageous!
Every wedding is unique and every couple’s vision is different. Why not give me a call directly on +44 7929709894 and we can work out what the best plan for you is!
Magic is interactive
Probably one of the best things about magic is that it is interactive. Why is that a good thing if you are considering hiring a wedding magician? Well, a wedding tends to be a melting pot of guests. From work colleagues to family and friends, there is always an air of anxiety given that people don’t know each other.
I am always aware of any guests that might be on the periphery or feel excluded and I bring them into a group and make them the star! So when I leave, they are left with incredible memories with their new friends. Without question, magic is the quickest way to connect people with one another – there really is no better ice-breaker!
Superb Photo Opportunities
Magic is a surefire way of getting your guests gasping and laughing. This makes a photographer’s job very easy! Having magic during either your drinks reception or wedding breakfast ensures you get your guests at their very best.
Whenever I arrive on site, one of the first things I do is introduce myself to the photographer and/or videographer. Throughout the course of my time, we work together to make sure we capture people pulling some absolutely fantastic faces!

The Best Breakfast
The wedding breakfast is unquestionably a highlight of any wedding day. The reason magic works so well is it is entirely malleable and works extremely well alongside all the other things going on such as food, speeches etc.
Magic fills in the gaps wonderfully and adds another level of explosive excitement as cheers, roars and applause are heard bounding through the room. It goes without saying that this can also be very helpful if there are any delays in the kitchen or you have a lot of guests and service is staggered.
Second to meeting the photographer on the day, I always speak to the kitchen and find out exactly how the room will be served – ensuring we are all on the same page!
Not just about the bar
Alcohol is normally an important part of any day. However, those that don’t drink, can feel a bit left out. Magic gives people an incredible opportunity to feel drunk with excitement!
Occasionally I am booked for after the wedding breakfast and into the evening. This serves two purposes. Firstly, as mentioned above, it gives an extra layer to the whole occasion that isn’t just about the drinks! Secondly, if you have evening guests arriving, magic is the perfect way of merging the two groups together!
If I weren’t a magician, I would definitely book a magician for my own wedding. This sounds like a terrible plug (terri-BRILL plug Jez would say), but I wholeheartedly mean it.
