Magician London Show
I often get asked if there is a “Magician London show” I’d recommend. Or rather, I can see that’s what people ask Google. This blog will give you a heads-up on the best public magic shows you can attend…
Note: If you are interested in booking a London magician for your event, watch me in action by clicking here or read reviews about my performances by clicking here. Alternatively, feel free to reach out via email by clicking here!
Sadly, magic isn’t quite as accessible as other forms of entertainment (there is probably a pub at the end of your road holding a comedy night as we speak). Often, you need to book a close-up magician, stage magician or virtual magician to attend your event.
That is not to say that there aren’t any London Magic Shows – just they are harder to find…Thankfully you have me as your guide!
*Top tip: Follow magicians you see at events and wait for them to post info.
The Magic Circle
If you are searching for the ultimate magician London show experience, what better place to visit than the world’s most esteemed magic society, The Magic Circle.
Based in Euston, The Magic Circle hosts magic shows for the public every single week! As well as getting treated to a brilliant show, you’ll also be at the Headquarters of the world’s most prolific magicians. As soon as you walk in the door (hidden on Stephenson Way) you’ll be absolutely blown away by the winding staircase (Instagram heaven!). Just being in the building will make you feel like Gandalf.
Moreover, you can explore the incredible museum that houses some of the most magnificent artefacts and memorabilia magic has to offer. Items range from the oldest magic book in existence to the trainer’s Dynamo wore whilst walking on The River Thames!
If you are a fan of close-up magic (my favourite type of magic), you can find tickets to their weekly shows by clicking here.
Conjuring at the Court
London’s longest-running monthly magic show! This show takes place in the ballroom of the Drayton Court Hotel and features a variety of different acts ranging from magicians and mindreaders to jugglers and ventriloquists. Given that the night is run by a fellow magician, you can be sure to see some top-notch wizardry! For more info click here.
PLAY SHOWREEL
Simon Drake’s House of Magic
Situated south of the river, this venue offers a lot of variety. As well as hosting their own nights, House of Magic is a venue fit for corporate events and private parties. Well worth checking out their site for more info – just so happens you can do that by clicking here!
The Illusioneer
If you fancy a quaint night of charming entertainment that is family-friendly, I’d recommend visiting here. Even more so if you are based in south London. Check out The Illusioneer website for more info (just click here) and see if it sounds like your thing!
Magic Roulette
In my opinion, this is the best magician London show going. It’s a “worker’s” night so you’ll often see performers trying new material. I have seen the country’s very finest magicians…sometimes all in one night! It is superbly compared by Tom, hosted at a well-located, intimate venue (near Waterloo), and an absolute steal of a ticket price.
If you are apprehensive about attending a magic show London, go with this one, you won’t regret it! The best bet is to keep an eye on the venue’s Instagram (@theglitch_se1) and see when they post news about upcoming nights.
Magic Conventions
If you are a massive magic fan why not get yourself down to a convention or two? Whilst they are designed for those studying magic, they are also the perfect place to witness an unbelievable number of performances. Whether you are attending a lecture, gala show, or visiting the dealer stands, you can be sure to witness some mind-blowing magic and who knows, you may even pick up a trick or two! I’d recommend checking out Blackpool Magic Convention – the largest convention in Europe (possibly the world), as well as The Session – a London-based convention run by the world’s biggest magic company.
Edinburgh Fringe Festival
Now, I’m aware this blog is titled Magician London Show – bear with me! For those of you who don’t know, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is the world’s most iconic variety act festival. It takes place over the month of August in Edinburgh, Scotland. It has a wild number of shows (magic, comedy, plays – there is something for everyone!). If you find out which magicians are due to perform at the Fringe Festival, or those that have just performed at the Fringe Festival, you will be able to catch a preview (before) or the beginnings of a tour (after)!
MagicWeek
On a general note, I’d highly recommend visiting MagicWeek (click here). It is the very best website going for news relating to magic shows (not just in London). Duncan regularly posts great content relating to magic shows and furthermore, provides information about the latest and greatest news from the world of magicians!
Headliner shows
Derren Brown
If you are looking for a magician London show you simply can’t get better than Derren Brown. As well as being held in high regard by the British public, Derren is adored by magicians. He has been a household name on UK stages for the last 20 years and his tours sell out year after year. He continues to elevate the art of magic and bring the very best to the most cynical of theatregoers. Keep an eye on his site for more info.
David Blaine
No two ways about it, the very mention of his name makes my tummy drop. He is an absolute legend and revolutionised close up magic. Without him hitting the scene, I doubt I’d be performing magic as a profession.
Seeing him perform live in the UK and getting to meet him after was a career highlight, a personal highlight, and something I’ll truly cherish. If he returns to the UK, buy your ticket immediately! Check out davidblaine.com just because…
Penn and Teller
You can’t predict when they will be in town, but Penn and Teller are a fail-safe option when it comes to a magician London show. They have been headlining in Las Vegas since the beginning of time…
If you can, I’d recommend snapping up a ticket. Their visits to the UK are sporadic and short-lived, so keep your eyes peeled.
I hope this blog has been of some help. Live magic really is one of the most memorable forms of entertainment. Feel free to reach out to me ahead of an event you are thinking of going to and I can give you my thoughts on whether it is an appropriate option!
For now, enjoy your week!
